Whole antler sheds for dogs are intact antlers that have been cut at the ends to create different lengths that are appropriate for various dog sizes, then smoothed and honed to be safe for chewing.

Split antlers for dogs are whole antlers that have been literally split in half lengthwise to expose the marrow in the middle. 

Spilt antlers of any type are long-lasting dog chews but slightly less durable than whole versions of the same antler type. 

Since the marrow is exposed, split antlers make a better choice for beginners or chewers with shorter attention spans. 

Whole antler chews are better suited and may last longer for experienced and aggressive chewers.
